Two former members of the Sex Pistols have won a legal battle against singer Johnny Rotten over the right to use the band’s songs in an upcoming television series about the iconic UK punk band.

The case brought by guitarist Steve Jones and drummer Paul Cook took center stage in a London High Court last month as the pair sought to include the group’s songs in the forthcoming F/X limited series “Pistol”; based on a 2017 memoir by Jones entitled “Lonely Boy: Tales from a Sex Pistol”, Rotten (John Lydon) refused to grant permission for the songs to be included. (hennemusic) Rob Thomas reunited with Carlos Santana at the August 21 “We Love NYC: The Homecoming Concert" in New York’s Central Park. The Matchbox Twenty singer joined the Santana for “Move” – the lead single from the guitarist’s newly-announced forthcoming album, “Blessings And Miracles” – before delivering the pair’s 1999 smash hit, “Smooth.”

Prior to Thomas’s arrival at center stage, Santana was joined by Wyclef Jean for the “Supernatural” track, “Maria, Maria.” The event to celebrate New York City’s re-opening and comeback followed more than a year of pandemic-related closures; the concert was shut down after only a few hours due to severe weather ahead of Hurricane Henri’s anticipated landfall the next day. (hennemusic) Journey were among the performers at the abbreviated “We Love NYC: The Homecoming Concert" in New York’s Central Park on Saturday and video of their performance has been shared online.

The band delivered a pair of classic 1980s hits - “Any Way You Want” and “Don't Stop Believin'” – before the event was cut short by severe weather ahead of Hurricane Henri’s anticipated landfall on Sunday, reports host broadcaster CNN. (read more)


David Franz recently released his new single "Silver Arrow Sunday" from his forthcoming album, "To The Unknown" (out September 24th), and to celebrate we asked him to tell us about the track. here is the story:

This song started from kind of a musical trance. Fresh back from a trip to Joshua Tree, the high desert was still swirling in my heart as it tends to linger with me. I was looking for a sound that could translate what I felt about that strange desert place, and had a thought “What does a mirage sound like?”. What is the sound of heat that creates waves that blur our vision? Why and how do we see things that don’t exist? What does that experience sound like? (read more)


New Found Glory have announced that Simple Plan have been replaced by Less Than Jake on the upcoming Pop Punk’s Still Not Dead Tour, which will also feature Hot Mulligan and Lolo.

NFG had this to say, “Pop Punk’s Still Not Dead Tour has some news! The tour will now feature New Found Glory, Less Than Jake, Hot Mulligan, and Lolo! Due to unforeseen circumstances, Simple Plan are no longer part of the lineup." (read more)


Riot Fest organizers have announced that they have recruited Slipknot to replace Nine Inch Nails as the headliner of the final night of the festival, and have tapped Morrissey to start things off with a preview party on Thursday night.

The festival will be taking place at Douglas Park in Chicago, IL on September 16th through 19th with Morrissey curating a special selection of guest to join him for the Preview party on the 16th. (read more)


The 30th anniversary of Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band's "The Fire Inside" album is being celebrated by the syndicated radio show In The Studio With Redbeard: The Stories Behind History's Greatest Rock Bands.

The show's host Redbeard had this to say, "Thirty years ago this week, August 26, 1991, I had the great honor and pleasure of co-hosting the world premiere radio broadcast with Bob Seger of The Fire Inside . His fourteenth (!) studio album, it came a long five years after Seger and the Silver Bullet Band‘s Like a Rock , the Detroit rocker’s fifth multi-million seller in a row. (read more)
