Day in Rock Report for 09/24/2021

(hennemusic) Guns N' Roses have released a new song entitled "Hard Skool." The track follows "Absurd" as the band's second single of 2021, with both tunes dating back to the recording sessions for 2008's "Chinese Democracy."

Reportedly originally known under the working title "Jackie Chan", short clips of "Hard Skool" surfaced online during the album's recording, and a full version was leaked in 2019 in advance of the official release. (read more)

(hennemusic) Nirvana will release a series of expanded 30th anniversary editions of their 1991 album, "Nevermind", on November 12th. Featuring the hits "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and "Come As You Are", the band's second album helped trigger a change in music culture as alternative and grunge music merged with the mainstream; it knocked Michael Jackson of the top of the US Billboard 200 and went on to sell more than 30 million copies worldwide, including 10 million in the US.

A total of 94 audio and video tracks -- 70 previously unreleased -- will be made available across configurations ranging from Super Deluxe Editions to standard digital/CD and single disc vinyl with bonus 7-inch. (read more)

(hennemusic) Metallica are streaming pro-shot video of a performance of their 1984 classic, "Creeping Death", that was filmed during their rare club show in San Francisco, CA on September 16th.

The track from the group's second album, "Ride The Lightning", was featured as part of the band's first live show in front of an audience in 738 days when they took the stage at The Independent. (read more)

Victoria Bailey released her brand new single "Queen of the Rodeo," today and to celebrate we asked her to tell us about the track. Here is the story: Thanks so much for "Singling Me Out!" I'm so excited to have this release out and to talk a bit about the inspiration behind my new single, "Queen of the Rodeo" with you.

A few years back, I ran into a real-life rodeo queen... sash, rhinestones, and all, in the TSA check-in at the airport, and I honestly felt so star-struck. I thought she was the absolute coolest and knew I wanted to write a song about her and her life in the rodeo. This song is my homage to all the strong females in the rodeo circuit and all of the horse-riding, badass cowgirls. (continue)

(hennemusic) Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band will release "The Legendary 1979 No Nukes Concerts", a live film and album featuring ten never-before released performances from the Madison Square Garden MUSE benefit concerts.

While some material from the shows has been previously made available, the 2021 package marks the first time fans will see and hear the band's entire setlist from the event. (read more)

(hennemusic) The Doobie Brothers rocked a pair of classic tracks on the September 23 episode of ABC-TV's Jimmy Kimmel Live. On hand to promote their forthcoming album, "Liberte", and 50th anniversary tour, the group delivered "Takin' It To The Streets" and "China Grove" on the late night program.

The legendary outfit also shared footage of a 30-minute pre-show set that mixed new material with classic tracks like "Black Water", "Minute By Minute" and "Long Train Runnin'." (read more)

(hennemusic) Motorhead are sharing a newly-upgraded video for their 2002 track, "Brave New World", as the latest preview to the October 29 collection, "Everything Louder Forever - The Very Best Of Motorhead."

"Who remembers the video for 'Brave New World' from 'Hammered?'" asked the band on social media. "We've found a copy of it in the archive and had upscaled to HD so all you Motorfans can enjoy it once more!" (read more)

Velvet Chains just released their new album, "Icarus" and to celebrate we asked Noelle Schertzer to tell us about the song "Wasted". Here is the story:

We had just come back from a band trip to Cali and had witnessed the California fires, the riots, the effects of Covid and what at the time felt like the world falling apart around us. This song is about just wanting to forget about everything and get wasted with whatever works for you. So many different dramas unfolding at one time in our lives brings about a need for retreat. Wasted is about stepping away from the news, the social media and the political conversations. Everyone gets wasted from some particular substance whether it's booze or drugs, sex or power. Wasted is for each person to listen to and create their own personal escape of choice. (continue)
