Legendary Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson has shared a stream of an instrumental track called "Cherry Lopez Lullaby" that he wrote during the "Clockwork Angels" era.

He shared this about the track, "This was written during the mix session of Clockwork Angels while in LA for months starting early 2012. I did an interview with High Times and the interviewer brought along a friend, an esteemed grower who provided a sample of his creation named Cherry Lopez. (read more)


(hennemusic) Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett and bassist Robert Trujillo are sharing video of their jam of the 1972 Edgar Winter Group instrumental classic, "Frankenstein", in time for Halloween.

"No tricks, just a treat," shared the duo on Twitter via the band's Blackened American Whiskey brand. "Frankenstein" appeared on the Edgar Winter Group's third album, "They Only Come Out At Night"; the tune achieved the rare feat of being a rock instrumental to top the US Billboard Hot 100, which it did in May of 1973. (hennemusic) Led Zeppelin are revisiting their 1971 classic, "Rock And Roll", on the second episode of their newly-launched 50th anniversary video series focused on their 1971 album, "Led Zeppelin IV."

Issued as the second single from the project in the spring of 1972, the tune features a guest appearance by Rolling Stones co-founder and pianist Ian Stewart; it's pounding intro by John Bonham was inspired by the opening of Little Richard's 1957 cover of "Keep A-Knockin.'" (read more)

Featured during a benefit concert series organized by MUSE (Musicians United for Safe Energy), the tune was the opening track from the singer's 1978 album classic, "Darkness On The Edge Of Town." (read more)


(hennemusic) Neil Young And Crazy Horse are streaming "Heading West", a new track from their forthcoming album, "Barn." The song follows "Song Of The Seasons" as the second preview to "Barn", which will be released on December 10.

The song tells the story of Young's early years in Ontario, before his parents split up and he and his mother returned to Winnipeg to start over while his older brother, Bob, stayed behind with his father. (read more)


(hennemusic) Green Day are streaming a live recording of their 1994 hit, "Basket Case", from the forthcoming collection, "BBC Sessions." Due December 10, "BBC Sessions" presents 16-tracks from four of the band's appearances at the iconic UK broadcast outlet between 1994 and 2001.

The tune was one of four songs the California band performed during a June 8, 1994 appearance at the legendary Maida Vale Studios, just four months after the release of their third studio album and major label debut, "Dookie." (read more)


Two Eyes Open just released his haunting new single, "Dysphoria," just in time for Halloween and to celebrate we asked him to tell us about the track. Here is the story:

Dysphora" is another old song that has seen a bunch of facelifts since the day it was originally written in 2015. Before Two Eyes Open was really what it is today, I was writing songs with my friend Colt Jensen in college as 'Burning Bridges'. Dysphoria was actually a song that Colt laid the groundwork for and then I took it and turned it into a punk track. This was all before we really even had the title. When he sent me his original demo of the song, it was acoustic and had sort of a Bob Dylan type of vibe; it was very singer-songwriter. But in those chords I heard something else - something much heavier and more rambunctious. I asked his permission to change the song up because I felt there was more to uncover. (continue)
