Avenged Sevenfold's M. Shadows says that the band is kicking off the new year by really focusing on completing their new studio album and hopes the band can tour at the end of the year.

Wolfgang Van Halen recently shared his list of "11 Albums That Changed My Life" with Louder which included two classic albums from Van Halen, 1981's "Fair Warning" and 1995's "Balance".

Here is what he had to say about the albums "I wanted to pick a Van Halen album, because obviously that can't be ignored in my upbringing and influence. I've lived and breathed it my whole life. But I've kind of fudged, because I don't think you can fully represent what Van Halen is without looking at both the Roth era and the Hagar era. (read more)


Cheap Trick have announced that they will be launching a brand new Las Vegas residency late next month at the intimate venue The Strat Theater.

The iconic Chicago rockers will be taking the stage at the 900-seat venue with four special residency shows on February 25th and 26th, followed by March 4the and 5th. (read more)


David Bowie's estate has sold the rights to the music legend's entire music catalog to Warner Chappell, which is the publishing arm of Warner Music Group.

The company tweeted the good news on Monday morning (January 3rd), "Today, with the estate of David Bowie, we're honored to announce a landmark deal and be called home to Bowie's revolutionary song catalog spanning six decades and including trailblazers such as 'Space Oddity,' 'Changes,' 'Ziggy Stardust,' and more." The new 1970s styled rock supergroup project Umbilicus have given fans a small taste of what is to come with the release of a short teaser clip as they finish up work on their debut album.

The record is expected to arrive later this year from the new group that features the drummer and lyricist of Cannibal Corpse, Paul Mazurkiewicz on drums, Taylor Nordberg (Inhuman Condition, The Absence, Fore) on guitar, Vernon Blake (Anarchus, Napalm Deah [live]) on bass, and vocalist Brian Stephenson (Fore, Old James). South Carolina hard rockers Seven Year Witch have given Akon's 2006 Billboard chart topping hit "I Wanna Love You" a blues-punk infused makeover.

The music video was filmed live at Blue Light Lounge in Chattanooga, TN, and the track was recorded, engineered, and mixed by Chase Brown of Atlanta based rock band The CEO. (read more)


Pennsylvania rockers Sick Century have released a music video for their brand new single, a cover of the White Zombie classic "More Human than Human."

They had this to say, "We didn't really plan this one. It was more like a fun idea in between tracking originals. The song turned out so good, we scheduled a video shoot the next week where we got all our friends together in a little barn spot in the woods and just rocked it. (read more)


Fozzy have started the new year with the big news that they have parted ways with cofounding member Frank Fontsere and recruited Through Fire's Grant Brooks to replace him.

The Nocturnal Affair recently released a new single and video called "Down" and to celebrate we asked mastermind Brendan Shane to tell us about the track. Here is the story:

This is a Frankenstein's Monster of a tune. I wrote the chorus itself almost five years before the verses and music were written. I couldn't figure out what to put in the chorus so I started sifting through my rolodex of melodies and lyrics. We played it live for about a year and a half before even tracking a true demo along with a few other tunes which ended up getting the ball rolling for the record. I've always had a soft spot for the tune because of the subject matter and how therapeutic the writing process of it was for me. I was going through a lot by the time this song was finished.
