(hennemusic) The guitar Kurt Cobain played in Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" video is headed to auction next month. The instrument will be publicly sold for the first time at auction as part of a three-day Juliens Auctions "Music Icons" event taking place from May 20 - 22 live at Hard Rock Cafe New York and online at juliensauctions.com.

The conservative starting estimate of Cobain's 1969 Fender Mustang left-handed guitar in Competition Lake Placid blue finish with matching headstock is $600,000 - $800,000. (read more)


(hennemusic) Jack White performed his new single, "What's The Trick?", on the Wednesday, April 20 episode of CBS-TV's The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Prior to delivering the latest track from "Fear Of The Dawn" with his band, White sat down with the host to discuss a number of topics, including his recently-improvised marriage proposal and wedding onstage during a show in Detroit, MI on April 8; how he spent time doing non-music projects during the early days of the pandemic; and, some advice he received from Prince during the one and only time he crossed paths with the legendary musician. Korn have premiered a music video for their brand new single "Worst Is On The Way". The track comes from their recently released new studio album, "Requiem".

According to the announcement, "the Craig Bernard and Culley Bunker-directed visual shows the band's high energy performance of the song in greyscale as individual members of the band are decomposed into animated particles with a series of visual effects." (read more)


Mastodon have premiered a new lyric video for their new single "Peace And Tranquility", which comes from their globally acclaimed album "Hushed And Grim."

According to the announcement, the "Lysergically-laced visual was directed by Lorenzo Diego Carrera that reveal animated images that match the ebb and flow of the 5:55 minute cinematic roller-coaster ride." (read more)


Dance Gavin Dance have announced that they will be digitally releasing their new studio album "Jackpot Juicer" on July 29th as the follow-up to their 2020 effort "Afterburner".

The album news as the band grieves the loss of their friend and bass player Tim Feerick, who passed away last week. They had this to say, "This past week has been the most challenging time in Dance Gavin Dance's history. (read more)


Pop Evil have released a music video for their brand new single "Eye Of The Storm". The Sam Shapiro directed "video is an allegory of the song's meaning and paints a picture of the storm with rapid, flashing lights and rain flooding the scene," according to the band.

They had this to say, "It doesn't matter who you are or where you come from, at some point we all face a situation beyond our control. The wind howls at your door as darkness fills the sky and everything you know is being tested. (read more)


Yes have announced that they have been forced to postpone their planned tour dates in mainland Europe this year until 2023, but their UK and Ireland tour dates remain on track.

The band had this to say, "It is with great disappointment Yes announce that the logistical problems of arranging mainland European tour dates for 2022, caused by the on-going pandemic, have proved insurmountable." (read more)

Produced by Banger Films, the feature details the story of one of Canada's biggest rock acts of the 1980s - from their humble beginnings as staples of the Toronto club circuit in the mid-'70s to selling out arenas and stadiums all across North America with their legendary live shows. (read more)


The Allman Brothers Band have announced that they will be releasing Peach Picks: Cream Of The Crop 2003 Highlights 3 Vinyl Disc Edition on April 23rd in support of Record Store Day, via the band's Peach Records (Orchard distribution)

The release will be a collection of the best performances culled from six shows in July and August 2003 that will included 16 tracks recorded between July 25 and August 10, 2003 in Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, Darien Center, NY, Hartford, Charlotte and Raleigh. (read more)


Wichita, KS based rocker Dusty Grant just released a music video for his brand new single "Oceans", and to celebrate we asked him to tell us about the track. Here is the story:

"Oceans" is my first full-band release. I started out in 2017 as a solo acoustic artist recording, releasing music, and touring around the Midwest. As things grew, there was an increased demand for me to play larger stages, so I started building a band comprised of some of my best friends to perform with me. (continue)


Davey Suicide has shared their brand new single, "Caught in the Fire," which was written by Suicide and Erik Ron (Godsmack, Panic At the Disco, Motionless in White, Black Veil Brides).

Suicide had this to say about the track, "this was the first time in 11 years that I've tracked vocals with a producer in their studio. All of our previous efforts, were recorded DIY style at my house and our producer would get the recorded tracks and edit them in post. (read more)


Eric Clapton has announced that he has been forced to cancel the Vienna stop of his rescheduled UK and European spring tour due to logistical problems.

The show was supposed to take place at the Wiener Stadhalle on June 4th as part of Clapton's rescheduled 2020 European tour that was pushed back to this year due to the lockdown. (read more)


The 50th-anniversary reissue of Elton John's Madman Across The Water is available to pre-order now as a 3-CD and 1 Blu-ray Super Deluxe Box Set, 4-LP, 1-LP Limited Edition colored vinyl, and 2-CD formats, the album will be released on June 10.

Spawning the hits "Tiny Dancer" and "Levon," Madman Across The Water was Elton's fourth studio album, released only two years after his debut. Recorded in 1971, it was a foundation stone of what was to become a dazzlingly prolific decade for the global-icon-in-waiting. (read more)


Lee Brice has taken home the prize for Artist-Writer of the Year at the 7th Annual AIMP Nashville Awards. The Association of Independent Music Publishers (AIMP) honored Brice with the award for his exceptional work with his 2020 album, Hey World, which garnered three #1 hits for Brice - making a total of 4 consecutive #1s including "Rumor" from his previous self-titled album.

"Man, what can I say? This is such an honor," says Brice. "To be recognized for your work is always great but when it comes from your peers and folks who truly champion for artists and songwriters behind the scenes, well it's just something special. San Diego's Wild Wild Wets have released a music video for their new track, "Holding", which is the next single off their upcoming new album 'Love Always.'

Co-frontman Taejon Romanik (along with bandmate Mike Turi) calls the track and companion music video, "A sultry, sexy, surfy, tale of holding in feelings and still holding your head up high. Holding closest to what's most important. Initially recorded in the summer of 2019 before the world went upside down, we decided through the pandemic on 'Holding' off to release this album for when the "summer of love" could finally bloom again. 'Love Always' was always intended as a spring and summer release and this year it's finally time." (read more)


Ocean Grove have teamed up Dune Rats for their brand new single and video "Bored", a track from OG's brand new studio album, "Up In The Air Forever", that hit stores this week.

Savannah, Georgia rockers Vatican have shared a music video for their new single "Reverence" to celebrate the announcement that they will be releasing their new album "Ultra", on June 17th.

Cage Fight have shared a visualizer video for their brand new single "Killer." The song comes from their forthcoming self-titled debut album that is hitting stores on May 13th.

Trollfest have shared a music video for their brand new single "Flamingo Libre", which is billed as "a psychedelic flamingo party, accompanied by deep saxophones, shrill organs and a catchy chorus."

Stoner rockers Volcanova recently released their new album "Cosmic Bullsh*t" and to celebrate we asked guitarist and singer Samuel Asgeirsson to tell us about the song "No Wheels". Here is the story:

During the weekend of 10-12th of May in 2019 we decided to go to my summer cabin located in Hafravatn, a 20 minute drive from Reykjavik. The idea was to get away from the city and be completely alone in the quiet. We wanted to bring some gear and instruments with us and see if the change of environment would bring some new and good/interesting ideas to the table. We brought with us little amplifiers and a mini setup of a drum kit and had a super cozy and a great jam/writing session for a few days and was the birthplace of many good ideas! No Wheels is one of the songs that came together during that weekend. (continue)
